WHAT IS GALICIAN CINEMA & FOOD FESTIVAL?

The GC&FF is the most significant promotional Galicia event in the United States. In 2022 celebrates its sixth edition after the standstill caused by the pandemic, thus becoming a highly consolidated event.

As a great novelty, the festival leaves its original base in New York to move to Miami: one of the most important cities in the United States, and with a greater interest in the gastronomy and culture of Spain.

The event will bring together the stars of Galician culture, gastronomy, and cinema in the United States through exclusive events held in Cosentino City and Coral Gables. The “Galegos con Estrela” prize will also be delivered.

Galician Cinema & Food Festival has become a milestone for Galician Region promotion in the United States that advertises the quality of its actives and brands, both North American professional and consumer audiences, through a unique, attractive, and validated model.

Gastronomy
SHOWCOOKING

Showcooking:

We show Galician gastronomy potential to the professional market and the specialized press in Miami through a performance of an acclaimed chef from our region.

DEGUSTACION

Tasting:

We place our Galician assets, brands, and products in front of institutional representatives and the professional and general audience in Miami with the celebration of a cocktail in Coral Gables.

BEER TASTING

FOOD AND WINe PAIRING:

We stimulate the interaction between producers, buyers, and the press while pairing some of the best wines with premium cans, and olive oil from Galicia at the Miami Cosentino City space.

Michelin star and member of Grupo Nove, he is the owner of Eirado da Leña, an intimate restaurant in Pontevedra. 

Advocate of Galician cuisine, he brings out the best of our products with a cooking style based on simplicity and without ever forgetting where we come from or where we are.

We exhibit the films and audiovisual works made in Galicia that have stood out the most in recent times, paying special attention to those related to the Camino de Santiago.

JORGE COIRA

Film and television director, screenwriter and editor, in 2016 he was nominated for 8 Goya awards (the most relevant in Spanish cinema) for his film “El unknown”, winning the awards for best editing and best sound.

The GC&FF 2022 program will take place on November 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th in three key locations in the city of Miami: the Consentino City buildin, the Coral Gables neighborhood and in the historic neighborhood of Little Havana.

June 24 – 27. The Taste of the Way & The Way Film Day.

  • Showcooking and tasting inspired by the gastronomy of the Camino de Santiago with Michelin star chef Lucía Freitas.
  • Screening of the documentary “Strangers on the Earth – A journey on the Camino de Santiago” and meeting with producer Patick Terry.
  • “Galegos con Estrela” Awards: Susana Martínez Conde, neuroscientist.

2018

June 28 – July 2: screening of the film ‘Dhogs’ by Andrés Goteira, the most awarded in the history of the Mestre Mateo awards.

  • Showcooking organized by the restaurant Tomiño in New York, specialized in Galician gastronomy and sponsored by the Galician chef with Michelin star Lucía Freitas.
  • “Galegos con Estrela” awards: Miguel Saco
  • GC&FF is declared finalist of the Paraugas de Comunicación y MKT de Galicia Awards.

2017

June 27 – 30: GC&FF becomes the Week of Galicia in the United States.

  • Exhibition of the best short documentaries at the Mestre Mateo 2017 Awards.
  • Showcooking of Michelin star chef Iván Domínguez
  • Screening of the documentary ‘Alén do Cosmos’, by Pedro Pablo Alonso, with the main character Santiago Formoso, the first galician to win a champion ring as a professional athlete in the US.

2016

20 – 23 June: Screening of the film ‘El desconocido’, by Dani de la Torre. Presence of Jorge Coira, editor of the film &  Goya Award winner 2016 for the best montage.

  • Showcooking by chef Álvaro Villasante.
  • Day dedicated to the Starlight Trevinca destination.
  • Recognition of the GC&FF as the greatest promotional event of Galicia by the Spanish Tourism Office in the country.
  • Debate with the directors, Alex Lora, Adán Aliaga, Ana Asensio, Martín Rosete and Jorge Coira.

2015

First edition of the event in New York.

  • Screening of the winner film of 2015 Mestre Mateo Awards ‘Los fenómenos’, by Alfonso Zarauza, with the presence of the producer of the film Rubén Zarauza.
  • Tasting of Galician products in Instituto Cervantes.
